Sexual, Physical, and Emotional Abuse
In Out-Of-Home Care
Prevention Skills for At-Risk Children
This set of 20 exercises promotes respectful and nurturing interactions among caregivers and children in out-of-home care by offering healthy concepts of touching, communication and boundaries that they learn together. It can facilitate the disclosure of current or past unhealthy sexual, physical or emotional behaviors between children or between children and caregivers. The knowledge gained through the exercises assists children and caregivers to know their rights and responsibilities and acts as an aide to deter future abusive acts to them or by them. The exercises can be done in family sessions as part of a reunification process to decrease risk of future abuse.
